Port Isaac is a picturesque old-world fishing village on the north coast of Cornwall. It's name is derived from the old Cornish 'Porth Issec' meaning Corn Bay. It nestles in a valley between steep hills.

Even today Port Isaac is relatively unspoilt and has been little affected by change during it's six hundred years of history. Narrow alleys and streets give Port Isaac an air of enchantment, so different from anything you may find elsewhere. At the harbour (known as The Platt), local fishermen land their catch as they have done for centuries. Port Isaac and neighbouring Port Gaverne are popular for swimming. For surfing, nearby Polzeath offers a magnificent stretch of golden sands. There are ample shopping facilities at Port Isaac including general stores, gift shops, local craft shops, Port Isaac pottery, clothes shops, beachwear shops, fresh fish market, pasty shops, local art shops, cafes, restaurants and old-world public houses. Sea fishing is available from off the rocks or from boats which may be hired locally.
